week - 3 ENGLISH SKILLS, DELICIOUS AND PROJECTS

ENGLISH SKILLS, DELICIOUS AND PROJECTS
"A little learning is a dangerous thing."
-Alexander Pope

This week I had the opportunity to read and interact a lot and it let me to discover a world full of chances to do whatever we want, these days we can not complain about the lack of resources or material needed for teachers and students, it would not be fair.
I really feel happy and confident about the enormous range of information and possibilities we can have to provide our students some learning experiences.

The articles you provided are really interesting so I can conclude that CALL is a useful aid to promote situations that stimulate student's interests, allows dialogues and communication, enhances oral and written practices with a sense of personal worth, facilitates collaboration among students working together, permits rich
learning experiences for all them and strengthens communication skills since there is a great variety of resources like: games, videos, worksheets, real-time radio activities, conversations, spontaneous feedback, exposure to real interaction. All of these activities are centered on students to improve listening, speaking, pronunciation, grammar which influence over the practice of communication. I could notice that the potential of CALL develops spoken and written, language competence which provides safe, motivating and interactive environment by a great variety of resources.

I also want to refer to the conversation Lesson plan which uses diagrams to get students talking about the different tenses like: past simple, present perfect, present perfect continuous and present simple. I find it quite easy for students to understand and helps to get students thinking in the right direction before beginning the task.
Talking about delicious it is a practical website to add and share all of the links we find interesting used for the teaching and learning process, it is also a way to organize and distribute the material found in the web by categories. Although I was a bit confused by creating my account , my experience with it was satisfactory because of the usefulness for us and learners.
Finally, I want to tell that the project I read was well detailed and structured that I think it worked well. She thought in a very attractive and effective skill "Reading" to direct the process of improvement in communicative skills of English through the use of technology. Students love technology and I agree that we have to direct their preferences to their benefit.
It was really pleasant to get too much knowledge this week.

  1. Hi Mory,

I totally agree with you. This, as the other week have been just great! Personally I've learnt a lot.

Actually, we are able to explore more creative ways of teaching listening, pronunciation and speaking in and out of the class using authentic materials. Besides some Lesson plans fit our class and our students for example:
    - Speaking lesson plans at One Stop English
    - Conversation lesson plans at esl.about.com
    - Communicative lesson plans at ESL-galaxy.com

I also want to refer to the conversation Pronunciation where The methods used for teaching pronunciation also vary widely, ranging from «drilling sounds, words, and dialogues, instruction in the phonological rules of English, including stress placement, spelling-to-sound rules, intonation patterns, etc.

Finally, we must offer a richer language learning experience for our learners and create good listeners and speakers.

    Best regards,

  2. Hi Mory,
Children in our country cut the plastic bottle in order to make measuring cylinder, because we cannot effort to give individual measuring cylinder. “If a child do not cry, mother won’t know that her child needs milk or her love”. We use locally available materials, but we are worried how accurate the child will be able to measure using his/her own made cylinder.
What I meant to say here is teachers in our country have no other choice but to complain for maximum. Understanding the economy growth of our country, we hope in near future there will be zero complain from our teachers. But we need to carry on what is available now.
I agree with you that in terms of technology we have learnt a lot on finding varieties of listening and speaking. All the activities seem applicable to us. We can make best use of internet for teaching and learning purposes. With the our storage of lots of learning site collected from all the participants, I too hope to a great and apply in my daily teaching.
www.delicious.com really means delicious, I salute to the founder of the site. All of us here agree that this is social net work where we could share interesting site that could benefit other readers. We could even share our own article.

    All the best, with regards,

    Jigme Norbu

  3. Hi Mory

I must agree, the internet explosion for us teachers has meant an unbridled access to authentic resources...and inauthentic ones as well I would guess. Excuses are not an option.

  4. Hi Mory,

The way you are improving the skills are pretty nice, and also I am sure they will work out with your students..

Something that we need to be careful with is the number of students, because according to them you can organize some diferent activities and students also will enjoy working with you..
